WMR: No one loves the mediocore--AT BEST--back-up catcher who purports to make roster decisions.

Based on the "sources" of this info (present company excluded, of course), I'd say that your comment here summarizes how I feel about Javy's comments perfectly.

Well in April I am fine if they run Prayfer Snow out there as well. Plus there is often not a need for a 5th guy for a few weeks.

oh I figure that Valentin is a great source-- he was probably looking forward to seeing the boss's big off-season acquisition, but then compared to the other Reds' arms, this kid's curveball apparently looked like it was thrown by a 9th grader

curveball was supposedly the Difference for him. He had no curve, got shelled at the upper levels, then finally found it for a year and blossomed. Now, perhaps he's completely lost it -- hopefully, temporarily. Makes you think of Ryan Wagner, who threw the Brigadoon of Sliders for exactly one season. Never threw it like that before, never found it again. It happens.

got lots of work to do.

There's no reason for people to be mad by Javy's comment. He was just speaking his mind. He's not the manager and he won't be making any final decisions about the makeup of the team, so who really cares?

    P. Snow is asking for way too much money. Even teams like the Angels and Dodgers can't afford his contract. The New Yorks and Red Sox could make a run at him, and of course he'll give the Indians the hometown discount.

I suspect Krivsky will be up to his same tricks from last year. Look for him to try and bring in the always elusive Prayfer Frostbite.

I don't really care if a kid shows up with rust on his curve. That could be a distant memory in three weeks.

I might worry if his heater lacked giddyup or movement, but that's not what we're hearing.

    I love quoting Bob Gibson:
