Has anyone actually seen Alonso play LF this year? How does he look?

Now 4-3 Tennessee in the ninth. It's staggering how many games the Carolina bullpen has blown-up.

Mudcats lose 4-3. Loss goes to Jerry Gil, who has actually been pitching a lot better lately. Today, though, he faced five batters and retired only one of them. He walked three of them.

Interesting stat from that game. Thompson threw 85 pitches, and 23 of them were balls. Gil threw 22 pitches, and 16 were balls.

If you analyze the stats, the bullpens at Carolina and Louisville bear responsibility for a lot of the losing by both teams. How quickly what was once perceived as an organizational strength has turned into a glaring weakness up and down the system.

Gil has been fairly reliable at Carolina, but not today. Watson and Smith are another story, especially Watson. It wasn't that long ago he was considered a promising prospect. Now he seems more like a prime suspect.

Too bad Carolina didn't win, but the news is Thompson!

    From Corey Brinn's twitter:

Cincinnati Reds promote Thomas Nurre from Extended Spring Training to the Dayton Dragons and send Kevyn Feiner to High-A Lynchburg

    Another "warm body" roster move.

Absolutely. Klinker and Cochran have been more deserving of wins than the bullpen has permitted. Today was another prime example of a good start being wasted.
