It seems painfully obvious that Ian Snell does not belong in AAA. Walt should make a low-ball offer and try to steal him. You can't have too many major-league arms.
So the Reds now see Rosales as a better option at SS than Valaika? Interesting development.
Wiley is an average runner. But yes, he is solidly built and not someone you would want hitting you at full speed. Just ask the Fort Wayne catcher he knocked into la-la land last week.
It will be interesting to watch Wiley over the next few days and see how long he can keep this momentum going.
The biggest negative with Wiley is that there is no way he could ever play any position other than left field, and he is going to be well below average there, simply because his arm is off-the-charts weak. On a potential sacrifice fly that would reach the depth where a normal left fielder would have a 50/50 chance to throw out the runner, Wiley would have to use a relay man. He is about 80 feet short on his arm strength than an average left fielder.
But you can't take anything away from the game he had yesterday. Even the West Michigan fans were cheering him after the third homer.
Redsof72, I'm curious about the power tool for Wiley and Means. Whose got more raw power? Do you see either guy maintaining/gaining real power potential as he moves up?Wiley is an average runner. Wiley has tremendous raw power. Far more than Means. Not even close.
Means is a big, strong guy who should have better power than he has now when he gets his body better conditioned for baseball and gets some flexibility in his hands/wrists. Means has outstanding speed.
Interesting -- thanks. Good to hear re: Wiley. He got obscenely hot late last year with Billings. Maybe he'll do the same this season... so far, so good, I'd say.Wiley has tremendous raw power. Far more than Means. Not even close.

Another question -- can Means defend?
I would say Wiley is obscenely hot right now. Will be interesting to watch.
Means is an outstanding defensive outfielder, strong arm, can play center well and has the arm to play right.
Nice. Dayton has become an interesting group here in the 2nd half.I would say Wiley is obscenely hot right now. Will be interesting to watch.

Yep. The addition of Josh Fellhauer makes them more interesting. We should see a few more 2009draftees make their way to Dayton later this summer. Donnie Joseph, Mark Serrano, and Brian Pearl are all candidates to see some time in Dayton this year. Possibly Brad Boxberger too if he signs in time.
Shea Snowden helps Luca Panerati celebrate his first win.

not to doubt any of your extreme knowledge of most of the players in the organization, but he can run and he can play center, the Reds may not play him in center but when I saw him in college he was a good center fielder, I just disagree with your comments a little.
