I bought an authentic Cueto jersey before he pitched ONE major league game. I'm the best fan the man has! Love seeing Cueto pitch well and I hope he makes my money worth it long term.
This is the time. The real Reds organization is back.
Have a cell number you can send me? I got a pic on my phone and want you to see how cool this jersey is. Maybe you can even post it here. I'm dumb with computer stuff
I'll also be wearing the jersey tomorrow if anybody wants to track me down and give me high fives! haha I'm proud of my purchase. The only game I've missed him pitch in person was his debut last year ha. How bad of luck is that.
This is the time. The real Reds organization is back.
The one and only thing that worries me has nothing to do with his per
formance. Its his stature. Short righties just don't last long.
"Baseball players are smarter than football players. How often do you see a baseball team penalized for too many men on the field?" ~ Jim Bouton
"My mission is to be the ray of hope, the guy who stands out there on that beautiful field and owns up to his mistakes and lets people know it's never completely hopeless, no matter how bad it seems at the time. I have a platform and a message, and now I go to bed at night, sober and happy, praying I can be a good messenger." -Josh Hamilton
I thought I read somewhere that the short and skinny pitchers were at the highest risk? Cueto may be short at 5-foot-10, but he's built fairly thick.
Another strong start tonight by Johnny Cueto: 7 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 5 K. He matched Roy Oswalt pitch for pitch. I love what I'm seeing from Cueto right now. He's spotting his fastball well, his slider looks great, and he seems to be throwing his changeup more, which is a good thing because that pitch is nasty. It's a shame the offense failed to show up.
he pitched well. showed good composure on the mound when the Astros threatened a couple of times.
even the homer Berkman hit wasn't a bad pitch. it was low & away not out over the plate.
some nice defensive plays helped him. the Reds have been inconsistent in the field but much better than the last few years.
.
Another gem today: 8 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 9 K
2009 season so far: 32.2 IP, 25 H, 9 BB, 29 K, 1.65 ERA
He won't dominant like this all season long, but you have got to be impressed with Cueto so far. His command/control has been spot on except for the 5th inning in Houston in his second start of the season. He's doing a nice job of mixing up his pitches and keeping hitters guessing. He's been a joy to watch so far this season.
