Yep, Chapman hit 105 and the next pitch was a swinging strike K at 104. The 105 pitch was fouled off. He had me a little scared with his warm up pitches. He was not throwing strikes then. When he faced batters, he was all business.

Over Dorn's last 10 games he's only hitting .263 but his OBP is a tidy .462. He's become a walk machine.
Frazier made a couple of very nice running grabs in LF tonight. Smith pitched well. (first time I've seen him) FB was 94-95.

Billings finishes off the 1-0 win. Lotzkar went 5 innings, 2 hits, no walks, 7 strikeouts, but gets the no decision. Arico gets his first professional save. Hamilton with steals 34, 35 and 36 on the season.
Elsewhere around the Pioneer League, Casper took a 24-1 lead over Missoula after 6. Ouch.
I saw Chapman's AAA debut against the Mud Hens. I was impressed that he hit 101 once. Now it seems like an off night. Amazing.

For those that haven't seen Chapman pitch, his delivery is a thing of beauty. High leg kick and a tuck under and then it all explodes to the plate. He's so lanky, it just doesn't look like he's throwing that hard.
Billings doesn't win many 1-0 games. But Ryan Smith and Kevin Arico followed Lotzkar with two scoreless innings apiece.

Grandal is 2 for 2 with a walk. Mitchell Clarke followed Thompson with three nearly identical innings, giving up just one hit. The AZL Reds lead 3-0 in the eighth.
Torreyes got a hit. All is well.
It is going to be really hard to temper expectations when Champan finally does get called up.

So both (US-based) rookie teams threw shutouts tonight. Nice. For the AZL Reds, Jose Amezcua trumped Thompson and Clarke with three hitless innings. It was a combined two-hitter with 9 strikeouts.

By the way, the AZL Reds have won five in a row, and are pushing hard for a wildcard playoff spot. The regular season ends this weekend. Going into tonight, there was a three-way tie (at 29-24) between the Reds, Royals and Dodgers. The Reds won tonight, the Dodgers are up 6-2 in the eighth, and the Royals are down 8-2 in the ninth.
But the remaining schedules look screwy. It looks as though the Reds have only one game left, tomorrow (Saturday) against the Padres. The Dodgers also have one game left, Sunday against the Royals. But the Royals play both Saturday and Sunday. So they'll have one more game than the Reds and Dodgers.

As previously mentioned, Billy Hamilton went 1-for-2 with two walks and stole three more bases, giving him 36 on the season. He's 36-for-44 in the SB department, and it seems like the majority of those caught stealings came early in the season.
Yorman went 1-for-3 with a walk and drove in the only run of the game.
When I think 105 mph fastball I imagine something akin to what FoxTrax was for hockey pucks appearing behind the ball.
That's seriously video game stuff man. Unbelievable.
