Contreras is way too low. He's number 6 on my board.

Carlos Contreras for me as well. I had him at #9 in my personal rankings. Love, love, love the arm. Wish he wanted to start because I think he actually has a chance to do it if he were to stick with it, but I don't see it happening. No one else has a vote yet in this one.
I really think Contreras reported preference for relieving hurt him with voting. Arm alone I rank him right up there with Lorenzen, maybe a tick behind.

If he's gonna be a reliever then he is no more valuable than a potential #5 starter (Sharky Rogers). Rogers might have just as good of a chance at sticking in the bullpen too...
Going with Rogers here as well, he has a chance to start and if he fails I believe he would be just as good as Contreras. in a relief role. Also over some of the young guys I really like just don't know enough about, like Stephens, Thompson, Rosa, Romano, etc.
Eh, Contreras has a better arm. Rogers as a reliever was pretty good, certainly more polished, but the stuff isn't the same. Contreras is a potential closer candidate with his stuff. Rogers looks like he could potentially be a good 7th inning type of guy (based off of his stuff from when he was relieving in Dayton).Originally Posted by *BaseClogger*

Not that he needs to be there ASAP, but Juan Silva strikes me a notable absence from the current list.

I'ver read that Rogers works in the 90-91 mph area and can touch 94 mph, while Contreras sits 93-94 mph and can touch 97 mph. Is this accurate in your findings?
If so, I give the nod to Contreras.
Rogers is 88-91 as a starter. Contreras,as a starter was 92-95.

Sure, there is that possibility. Also the chance that Rogers can't find his old velocity he showed as a reliever in Dayton and is topping out at 91-92 as a reliever.
