sorry we're boring
Not baseball, but I greatly admire Joe Delaney.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”
Ernie Davis
Nick Adenhart (just earlier this season)
"I tried to play golf, but I found out I wasn't very good." -Joey Votto on his offseason hobby search
An MLB.com reporter asked what one thing Votto couldn’t do. “I can’t skate or play hockey,” Votto said. “Well, I can skate ... but I can’t stop.”
Fred Hutchinson
Ray Chapman
Lou Gehrig
Lyman Bostock, another tragic story.
The Red are too well represented on my quick list of guys left out.

Roberto Clemente
Bob Moose, Pirates pitcher. Died in an auto accident on his 29th birthday.
Threw a wild pitch in the 9th inning that allowed the REDS to score the winning run in the deciding game of the 1972 NLCS. With Pittsburgh needing only three outs in the ninth to get to the World Series, Pirates closer Dave Giusti yielded a dramatic game-tying homer to Johnny Bench on a hanging change-up. The inning rapidly turned chaotic for the Pirates. Tony Pérez singled and was replaced by pinch-runner George Foster. Denis Menke followed with another single, and the Pirates replaced Giusti with Game 2 starter Bob Moose. A fly ball out advanced Foster to third. After Darrell Chaney made the second out on a popup with nobody scoring, Moose threw a wild pitch to pinch-hitter Hal McRae. Foster came home with the winning run amid wild scenes of jubilation in the stadium.
Ross Youngs
Addie Joss
Ed Delehany
King Kelly

When it comes to sports stars, no sport has had more of its stars die too soon than motor racing: Mark Donohue, Jimmy Clark, Dale Earnhardt, Adam Petty, Peter Revson, Bill Vukovich, Bill Vukovich III, Art Pollard, Fireball Roberts, Ayrton Senna, Jerry Unser, Greg Moore, Eddie Sachs, Gilles Villeneuve, Swede Savage, Neil Bonnett, Ronnie Peterson, Scott Brayton.........all those, and more, died while either racing or qualiyfing or in practice......one sportswriter once wrote that the command to start a race should be "gentlemen start your coffins."

"Hey...Dad. Wanna Have A Catch?" Kevin Costner in "Field Of Dreams."
Dernell Stenson and Corey Lidle were also incredibly tragic deaths, and both had an impact on me, as they both played for the Reds, however briefly.
Hall of Famers who died while still active:
Ed Delahanty
Addie Joss
Lou Gehrig
Roberto Clemente
Ross Youngs
