I wish that I could look in the couch cushions and come up with 250 million in loose change.

My question would have established that Logan Woodside is not a power 5 QB in college football yet he's a starter getting raves in this league. Question: Do you really think people will watch a league that's below major college football longterm?
I had no idea I'd be right so soon

I've always wondered why the NFL hasn't done a minor league of some sorts. Especially since 25% goes to the IR at some point in the year. The stadiums already exist. Play 8 games instead of 16. Call it NextFL. Cap participation to 3 years or something like that. $40K salaries. You could get reps for a developmental QB. I'm sure I'm missing a lot, but it looks good drawn on a napkin.

I would think so. No competition now with the AAF folding.

McMahon seriously thinks the reason his first XFL failed was because of a power outage in week two that hurt his ratings.

I forget where I read it, but there was an article saying that one reason the NFL can't really have a developmental league like that is the judgement against it in the USFL case. Even though that judgement amounted to so little at the time.
Basically, if the NFL were to put a thumb on the scales for a league(say the AAF or hypothetical NextFL) and a rival league like the XFL were to sue, they'd be on the hook for big time damages. Essentially would amount to defying the previous judgement.

Take this with a huge grain of salt as it's a non lawyerly foggy recap of something that may or may not have been accurate to begin with.

Also McMahon has sold $272 million of WWE stock to fund the XFL so he has a big financial stake in seeing the XFL go. It still probably won't work but he has enough money in the league to keep it funded for over a year.

Aw, man, I was so looking forward to the AAF v XFL Ultrabowl championship in a few years too.

Sounds like Dundon bought in just to kill it, something really fishy about all this.
