    Predict the Opening Day Lineup

This might be a fun thread to help hold us over until Monday.

It's quite simple, just predict the starting nine come Opening Day.

    Taverez
    Gonzalez
    Votto
    Phillips
    Bruce
    Encarnacion
    Hernandez
    Gomes
    Harang

Re: Predict the Opening Day Lineup

    Willy Taveras, CF
    Alex Gonzalez, SS
    Joey Votto, 1B
    Brandon Phillips, 2B
    Jay Bruce, RF
    Edwin Encarnacion, 3B
    Ramon Hernandez, C
    Jonny Gomes, LF
    Aaron Harang, P

I would bat Gonzalez eighth but my guess is he'll hit second.

Says the other 29 major league baseball managers, and anyone else that has even remotely followed baseball. Ugh.

You two have obviously forgotten how important it is to have an intelligent hitter batting second.

LOL. Look, I could see some radical managers - maybe, in a lost season, in the second game of a double header, possibly, arguably batting the SS 1st and the CF 2nd. But drop the SS down to 8th?!?!?! When he is supposed to bat 2nd?!?!? What's next, encouraging players to walk?!?!?! Please take your insane ideas elsewhere - we will not hear of this talk in Cincinnati.

Re: Predict the Opening Day Lineup

Anyway, my lineup prediction is this (without really knowing who is on the team):*

1 Player With Worst OBP (CF)
2 Another Bad Offensive Player (SS)
    3 Most Respected Veteran
    4 Respected Veteran
5 Solid Rookie To Break Up Left Handed and Right Handed Hitters
    6 Best Offensive Player
    7 Some Rookie
8 Whoever Is Left (probably C)
    9 Pitcher

*- Note, I really do know who is on the team, this is just what my guess would be based on last year if I didn't know.

    My opening day lineup
    Taveras cf
    Hairiston lf
    Votto 1b
    Phillips 2b
    Bruce rf
    Rosales 3b
    hernandez c
    Gonzales ss
    Harang p

Notice who's not on third.I don't like Phillips hitting 4th but there was no alternative. I was in Kissimmee yesterday at the game against Houston almost behind home plate and Bailey was flat nasty. he had a great fastball and a kickbutt offspeed pitch which those 8 Ks will attest to.The Astros had everyone but Berkman in the lineup so it wasn't just minor leaguers he was nailing.Anyway he's one of my 5 starters so Harang and Arroyo had better get it going early. Just an opinion

EE played in a major league game this week. He's not going to the DL, so that means he's starting.

    It's PREDICT the OD lineup.

And I predict the Reds sign Sheff.
