Marty has his shirt on, for the record.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Agree. Should not have used Cingrani today. Give him rest between outings.

Reds go into Arizona, a good team. Now Cingrani and Simon are likely out tomorrow.

I know some feel this was debatable, but I'm annoyed with Dusty's handling of the pen today.

And now, after the damage is done, Hoover is pitching his second inning.

Proof positive that Marty Brennaman is colorblind.

Let me rephrase, no half way decent manager who has ever managed, would ever bring in Chapman into the 7th of a tie game, and for good reason. You have idea how many outs you will need to get nor how many pitchers you will need to use.

Did I understand Chris right? Has he been instructed not to wear his Doc Sevrinson jacket and bow tie?
Eric Stratton, Rush Chairman. Damn glad to meet ya.

You're the one guy here who did not second guess so kudos for that. I'm still not convinced a tired Simon is all that worse than a fresh Hoover. In any event, if the offense would put some runs on the board, the bullpen wouldn't be so used up.

Yeah, my take was why Simon? He set up the need to battle the Pirates LH guys, sort of backed the Reds into a corner to have to use a LH and well...

I'm trying to think of any manager ever who brought his closer into a specific situation in the 6th or 7th inning. Raditiz, Bill Henry, duren? I'm not talking about a rubber armed guy like Goose who would get 2 inninng save.

Ummm... it's a strategic choice that could go either way. Yes, the fireman approach is rarer, but that doesn't mean it is the lesser option.
