Good to see Mes back in there. Wish Bruce would be in the 4 spot. Ludwick's swing is still off. He had a number of meatballs to hit off Harang last night and was late on every one of them.

Jonathan Niese is a pretty good lefty who this year has been tougher against lefties than righties. Over this career, the gap is narrower, still better against lefties.

This year he has had trouble away from Citifield (.846 away OPS against) and has not had a good September so far in four outings.

Reds have very few at bats against him, Phillips with 16 official at bats and a 1.188 OPS. Votto .792 OPS in 12 at bats (four walks), Bruce .833 in 10. Reds hitters combined have an .812 OPS against him, including five homers, in a total of 80 official at bats (excludes pitchers).

Would love to see ludwick get a few big hits and some positive momentum before the playoffs start. His bat is needed in our lineup...even if he doesn't have all of his power back.

Good lineup for lefty. Tomorrow I go:

    Hamilton CF
    Choo LF
    Votto 1B
    Bruce RF
    Phillips 2B
    Frazier 3B
    Cozart SS
Rocco/Hanigan (depending on who is pitching)

Because Ludwick is a power hitter who adds a lot if he hits.

He's missed time and the Reds want to give him a chance to get going. Especially against a lefty.

Tomorrow Lud will sit. This will cause 350 posts on RedsZone. But Dusty usually rests Ludwick every series and did most of last season too.

"But, Skip, I was 3-5 on Friday night and 2-3 on Saturday. Just because I had a lousy night last night doesn't mean i'm not 'getting it done.'"

Come on Chip - yes it does. Last night is all that matters! What have you done for me lately? And by lately I mean yesterday and yesterday only.....

Young singles, then a fly out.

    Wright up, first inning.

    Young steals second, high throw.

    Full count on Wright.

    47 steals for Eric Young.

    Billy Hamilton won't catch him
