Re: Scoreboard Watching 2013 (Part 2)

Seeing what happened to the Cardinals vs Miami this weekend, that's why the Reds need not apologize when they pummel bad teams. We've all heard the whining when the Reds do well vs a horrible team, "yeah but they can't do that vs a good team". So what? A win's a win and I'll take 'em any way they come

I've seen quite a few division battles determined by teams unable to beat the second divsion teams. That's why they are called "spoilers."

If I had the choice of winning 75% of the games versus the sub .500 teams and .450-.500 against the .500+ teams or the other way around I'd take the first option. There are more bad teams than good.

For the deviants out there, Vegas (sportsbook.com) is laying odds of +175 for the Reds to win the Central. If you are a believer, those are pretty good odds.

If I bet 100$ what would I win? I have no idea how the +/- works.

Also not sure if it was mentioned before but Wil Myers was called up today. I've been excited for him to be in the majors for awhile. His debut will be a must see.

    Clayton Kershaw contract status

The Los Angeles Dodgers have “made progress” on a seven-year contract extension with ace Clayton Kershaw that would make the 25-year-old lefty the highest-paid pitcher in baseball history, FoxSports.com’s Ken Rosenthal is reporting.

The deal would be worth more than the $180 million the Detroit Tigers gave Justin Verlander before the season. The two sides discussed proposals of 10 years, $250 million and 12 years, $300 million earlier in negotiations, according to the report

10 years 250MM?!?! Kershaw or not that is a long time and a lot of money for a pitcher. I know the dodgers have a ton of money to give, but wow.

Good God...I don't care about how much they pay him, but if I were a Dodgers fan *shudder*, I die a lot inside at the 10-years for ANY pitcher. I wouldn't have done 10 years for Walter Johnson....

My apologies. It did not stop him from calling me out and asking me if my behind is where I get my information.

Good to know about Myers...I'll try to tune in.

As for the bet, if you won, you would obviously get your 100 dollars back, but you would win 175 dollars on top of that.

Don't look now, but the Pad's are 11 games OVER .500, 5.5 ahead of LA and only 2 games off the lead! They sqare off with our old Pal Volquez vs. Zito and the Giants tonite.

ESPN will carry Cubs@Cards tonite. I fully expect the Cubbies to rise to the challenge, splitting the 4 game series. However, if Waino has his usual 1 bad outing of four this series, the No. Siders will take 3 of 4.

Not to rain on the Padres parade but they are 35-34, only 1 win over .500.

Six of 1, half a dozen of 11.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

I need my eyes checked. I saw 45 wins and 34 losses. But the real point is they are actually in a division race in June.

They are very much in the WC running, just a game and a half behind the Rocks. (If I read it right)
