Edit: nitpicking a bit, but that was a run and hit, not a hit and run.
Run and hit; Hit and run... The exact same thing.

I think it was a run and hit, a more aggressive (and rarely used now days) variant of the hit and run. The batter has the option of whether or not to swing. The runner absolutely has to have a shot at being safe if the batter doesn't get on. Anyway, back to the game.

Bruce strikes out looking. Nasty pitch there.

If that was any pitch but a 3-2 pitch, you might have been able to sell me that Robinson was going on his own.

On a 3-2 pitch? There was a 100% chance that was a hit and run.

No, they are not. The difference is in the batter's obligation to swing.

That's just a straight steal. And that was not what that was. It was a hit and run and Votto screwed up.

Last post on this, I promise. Just to prove I'm not making things up.

Saw the worst AB I have ever seen in tonight's Dodgers - Cards game.

Kelly had just walked Puig, was 3-0 on Either, and Either swung on 3-0 on a ball almost In the dirt, the would have been ball four, and hit into a 4-6-3 double play. Just horrible.

    Great start by Latos.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

I hate 3-0 swinging more than anything.

Just caught up from DVR recording

....good hard hits by the Reds
....thought Reddick tied it up, good play by Bruce
....several just missed plays both ways
....I'd keep rotating Hannahan and Frazier
....no issue with BP's error, it was a bad hop and he was squared up on it
