I tried to get into Sunday's episode but I accidentally sat on the remote and switched the channel to an infomercial about hair plugs and it was far more captivating.

It's still worth a watch just to watch Pivens play the hell out of that character. He's "Gold".

Shows on paid cable are almost all of such a quality that they are incredibly expensive to make. Of course, they benefit financially from being on paid cable, but a line has to be drawn somewhere. They draw top talent from almost all areas of the business and that talent is paid accordingly. Even a single episode costs an insane amount of money.
They could have more episodes in a season, but you'd see the difference in quality, even down to the basics of the acting talent attracted. Working on one of these shows is an actor is much more along the lines of a movie commitment than a TV one, only spread out over a longer period of time (i.e., an all-consuming commitment). Top-tier talent simply would not agree to longer seasons even if the shows could afford it.
There is no such thing as a pitching prospect.
Anybody stayed with Entourage this year? I missed 3 episodes and just watched the most recent one. Awful. I'll probably watch the last episode just because it's the last episode.

It has been a little slow all season but I've still enjoyed it. Wish the finale was at least an hour.
Spoiler:
So they go through such pains to show that Sophia is different than every other girl Vince has fallen for - that there's some substance to her. Then she agrees to marry him after one date
That is the laziest piece of...
And for those who are interested in a spot-on and very funny review of the finale:

I thought it was alright. Clearly setting it up for a movie. People are never happy with a series finale. Ever. So I'm sure most hated it.
I loved the show. Watched every episode. And the last season was just awful. And last season was pretty bad as well.
What made the show unique was that it was light - it didn't try to actually be a drama, the comedy was always first. It was Vince and the guys doing crazy stuff.
When they tried to go dark, down Vince's drug path, it became ham fisted and poorly done. And this whole season has been just one mediocre episode after another. All these loose ends that magically all get wrapped up in 15 mins.
It definitely needed to end. I'll still view the middle seasons (2-5) as some of the funniest TV I've watched.
