Well, I guess we are starting a trend because I for sure was going with Markakis & Phillips so I had to shift a bit as well and had to go a little older than I wanted
4.12 Nick Markakis
5.1 Brian Roberts
Go Orioles

I will be making my next pick here very shortly. Hold tight with me and reds1869 will be back up on the clock. Shouldn't be too long.

I think my pick will hit while I'm asleep, so to keep things moving I'm going to PM my top choices to Atomic so things can keep going.

Ran across an interesting article in today's Cincinnati Enquirer about how many Reds fans feel the Reds should have taken Beckham with their 8th pick in the first round that year instead of Yonder Alonso. Valid points are made that no one knew Joey Votto would be THIS good and the offensive talents of Alonso made him just too good to pass up. If I have 2 guys of somewhat similar collegiate talent, I take the one that offers greater position flexibilty (Beckham) and with the Reds having nobody in the pipeline at that time at 3rd and using starter Edwin Encarnacion, I would have thought the Reds would have indeed taken Gordon Beckham. Oh well, the Reds also passed on drafting Derek Jeter and Tim Lincecum so not drafting Beckham certainly isn't a surprise.
