I think Cozart is the most disappointing thus far but Perez is the most surprising imo.

Cozart surprises me. Everyone else is pretty meh as a prospect or extremely young for level.

Yet, if you followed the minor league threads in the off-season, everyone that saw Perez came away unimpressed.

I did and I remember that but I dont think people were saying that he was going to be struggling mightly (I know I know small sample) after how he played for the majority of last year. He did end up with a 819 ops across 3 levels for the 2010 season.

I didn't come away unimpressed. He didn't "wow" me, but he looked like a guy who could play his way into a 4th outfielder in the majors.

    Re: Cold Starts

A friend of mine took his son to see the Mudcats the other night. Not having all the details...before my friend and his son left the park Perez gave my friend's son two bats. Even told him to follow him back to the clubhouse and wait until he got them for him. My friend says he's even up to some decent broken English. As I understand, he spoke about zero English a year ago.

Perez has started to make more consistent contact and I think he'll figure it out soon. I haven't seen anything to get excited about defensively.

Not the first time Perez has done that. He's a really good guy.
