Yea, its easy for us to say take this guy or that guy when its not our checkbook that takes the hit. But a great athlete that enjoys working and is a baseball junkie - man, those are the guys that turn into perennial all-stars.
Anyway, what do I know!

I really like your list jmcclain. BTW I just looked up the ACC individual statistic leaders and saw that Grandal is leading the ACC in batting average by 26 points as a catcher! I think that is amazing. He is also tied for the league lead in doubles with 19 and has double digit home runs (10). It doesn't list OPS, but I am all for a catcher who can rake. I guess it's all up to the scouts to see if he can stick behind the plate, but I don't care about the progression of Mesoraco, if this kid is there and he can stick behind home plate, I will be down for this pick.
My homer pick will still be Wimmers because I would love to see another Man of Moeller drafted by the hometown team.
I read on ESPN.com where they said Alex Wimmers could be this years Mike Leake. Other than being a polished college pitcher, does Wimmers have anything else in common with Leake? Like a good sinker or crazy movement on his pitches?
Check out his MLB.com vid - eh not an exact match.

I think he may be like Leake in that he's a polished college pitcher, looks like he has a sharp curve but not much else.
Somehow scouting people forget that if there wasn't a guy named Strasburg pitching at San Jose State last year, Leake would have been at the top of every major DI pitching category last year.
That Leake comparison probably won't match up well with anyone. There is a reason why nobody skips the minors - it's just really hard to do.
After spotting this image on MLB.com tonight, I now retract my early statement about who I want the Reds to draft.
It's gotta be Matt Harvey. Behold the power of the mustache. You can't fight it, you can't contain it, you simply must submit to it's awesome powers.
Intriguing guy for me is Kaleb Cowart. Like Micah Owings and Mike Leake, he's a legitimate two-way player -- switch-hitting 3B with power and a hard-thrower who can touch the mid 90s. I like these kind of players for their unusual array of skills made possible by pure baseball athleticism. He prefers to be a position guy now, but could easily transition to pitching down the line (as Casey Kelly has now done in the Boston system). His delivery is simple and effortless -- there's a big fastball there with good command already. I see a high ceiling for this kid on the mound. But hey, if he wants to start out as a switch hitting 3B with power, why not?
Cowart's moved into the upper echelon of my preferences for the top pick.

Christian Colon, like or dislike?
I can't get a good read on the guy. He doesn't seem to have much power, and his bat is said to be solid, not exceptional. Is this the type of guy you draft, or pick up through free agency at the major league level?
