    Williamson and Reds Talking

Scott Williamson was on the show after our segment. His wife said Scott's agent has talked with the Reds. Williamson is healthy and ready to pitch.

This will probably turn out like when Norm Charlton came back.

I don't know his age but if the Reds are looking at him, I'll be willing to bet he's over 30.

What do you have to gain? Since Williamson has left the Reds, he's been a model of mediocrity, inconsistancy, and injury-proneness. This season is a wash and the future now needs to be addressed, and I just can't see any kind of realistic scenario where Williamson can be a long-term solution for this organization.

Anybody thinking that Guardado is farther away than it seems and that Weathers will be traded with Williamson closing games (who else would they use if Weathers is dealt?).

I'm not saying that I want that, but I really can't see any other possibilties for bringing Williamson in.

Eddie Guardado's not going to be pitching soon? Color me surprised...

As for Williamson....Why the heck not? We've tried everyone else......Next.

Compared to what we've had, mediocrity would be a step up!

    What is there to lose?

Picking up relievers during a season without trading two everyday players seems to be hard to do if you're a catfish

This season is lost and he is a harm body, give his a shot and say goodbye at the end of the season if he does not do well

Since the beginning of the 2005 season, Williamson's ERA is 5.48 and WHIP 1.54, and he's only pitched in 67.3 innings. I can't think of anybody I would replace this guy with on the current roster or in the minor league system.

All it would do is take away valuable major league time from a young pitcher who you want to evaluate for the future.
