They'll be announced (for both leagues) later today at 6 pm eastern on MLB Network. Anyone wanna make any predictions? Think one or two Reds could be named?

I would think that Votto will probably win one at first base; Rolen might have an outside shot at the third base Silver Slugger.
I think Votto will win 1B. I don't see anyone else picking one up unless Rolen or Leake surprises us. Leake probably won't win it but when you look at pitcher he and Gallardo should be the only ones in the mix.
It would be contradictory for Votto to win Hank Aaron (best hitter in the league) but not silver slugger (best hitter at his position)

I'd rather listen to Kelch read the phone book than suffer through Thom Brennaman's attempt to make every instance on the field the most important event since the discovery of manned space flight. -westofyou
You're right, Doug. HA is fan voting. However, it still would be Bush league for JV not to win SS.

I wouldn't be too bothered if Pujols won the award to be honest. The numbers are very close and Votto plays in a more hitter friendly park. While Votto hit better on the road than at home, he was still helped by his home park. So there is certainly an argument to be made that it isn't completely clear cut.
The way the Gold Gloves are given out, the Silver Sluggers are almost redundant.

Pujols gets the award at 1B
A mockery of the game. Put the top 10 payroll teams in their own league. With their own budgets. And their own awards. And their own playoffs. A league where you can give Jeter and Pujols GGs and SSs respectively for 100 years.
Votto should be league MVP. For the coaches and managers not to give him SS-

NL's most potent offense had no Silver Sluggers.
Exact same thing I thought.Originally Posted by John Fay

Sometimes baseball people are too stupid and clueless for words. *shakes head*
"I tried to play golf, but I found out I wasn't very good." -Joey Votto on his offseason hobby search
An MLB.com reporter asked what one thing Votto couldn’t do. “I can’t skate or play hockey,” Votto said. “Well, I can skate ... but I can’t stop.”
I saw this coming from a mile away.
