Maybe Navarro's performance will represent a culture change for the Reds. Maybe they will accept the notion of switch hitters in the 21st century.

Me, I would have played Bruce like Dusty did. Jay's had a lot of big hits against lefties. I don't buy that he can't hit Wandy. Some times these things turn around.
1-for-32 with 16 Ks... I think that's enough to suggest he can't hit him.

Navarro doubled in Bruce and Frazier. Tie game.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

it would seem if you are trying to get a guy hitting again you would play him against a pitcher that he has hit pretty well in the past...just sayin.

Maybe Stubbs is just in Dusty's dog house.

Whatever, I've seen Bruce hit too many big homers against lefties. Not going to debate it, tie game.

PH X-Man grounds out to end the inning.

    3-3 after 7.

Not all lefties are created equally. That's like saying a guy should be able to hit Justin Verlander because they were able to hit Todd Redmond. Just because Bruce has had big hits against lefties doesn't make him more capable of hitting a guy that has owned him for his career.

My guess is that Dusty had the following thought process: I can hit Jay Bruce or Drew Stubbs tonight. I prefer Jay Bruce.

Let's hold the Pirates here in the eighth.

I was going to suggest that Dusty should have PH with Paul and then brought in Hanigan or Mes to catch the rest of the game - glad I didn't actually make that comment!

Marshall dispenses with two lefties with power.

Now Marshall pitching to righty Tabata.
