Cornish Pasties and Cream Teas, Tin Mines and Lands End are more associated with Cornwall then anything else
When I was in Somerset and Cornwall I lived on pasties. And cider. Lots of cider.

I find the guns thing funny. My mother is from Ireland and I still have a lot of family over there. The first time I went over to visit whether it was cousins or just people I talked to, when they found out I was from America they would ask me how many guns I owned. It was never a question of whether I owned them because the belief is everybody in America owns them, but always how many or which one was my favorite. It was almost comical.

"Pasties"? Is that some sort of burlesque thing? And, you lived on them? Or, do you mean "pastries"?

I've been asked that by Europeans as well. I asked them why was I always being asked that and the answer I got was that many of them wish it was east to buy guns over there. I just recently represented a German citizen in a criminal case and one of her first concerns was whether a conviction would prevent her from owning a gun.

My German relatives are the same way. They assume the first thing I do in the morning after making breakfast is to go out and shoot a deer. And generally speaking, I think Europeans believe the US still has a frontier.
