Of course they're lucky. Never said otherwise. Every team that makes it this far is. I just simply understand that it's not all "Cardinal Luck" and that other teams see the same type of stuff. Happens all the time in short sample sized series.

What team has held teams to .157 over this last 29 home games and .120 in the playoffs, who has .236 minor league hitters winning games along with a .227 hitter in the RS, who has players like Lohse go from 10 games under .500 with a 4.79 to 19 games over with a 3.11 overnight. who else hires a manger with no experience and wins, who else gets in as 2nd WC who lets one of the best players in baseball walk with nothing lost, what team has a .430 BABIP player at home who loses the best playoff OPS in baseball history and see his replaces get all 3 runs of a 3-1 comeback win and then get on base 3 times the next night.

There's luck and then there's Cardinals luck! A team who could have 3 of the 4 worst records of a WS winners in the last 25 years.

    arbitrary sample

    and .120 in the playoffs
    arbitrary sample
, who has .236 minor league hitters winning games
Even bad hitters get hits. He's hitting .235 this postseason.
along with a .227 hitter in the RS
    no idea what that means
, who has players like Lohse go from 10 games under .500 with a 4.79 to 19 games over with a 3.11 overnight.
switch leagues, enter prime, work with one of the best pitching coaches ever in a pitcher friendly park
who else hires a manger with no experience and wins
Diamondbacks, Dodgers, Cardinals and White Sox, in the last 3 years.
who else gets in as 2nd WC
    The Orioles
who lets one of the best players in baseball walk with nothing lost,
    2001 Mariners
what team has a .430 BABIP player at home who loses the best playoff OPS in baseball history and see his replaces get all 3 runs of a 3-1 comeback win and then get on base 3 times the next night.
    huh?

There's luck and then there's Cardinals luck!
    Sure...

You want to know the trick? Have good draft and development, a savvy FO with decent resources to take advantage of a weak division and build a contender year in and year out. The very nature of 5 and 7 game series will take care of the rest.

You piss and moan about them getting with 83 in 06 and as the WC last year and 2nd WC this year, yet you don't lament them not winning the WS in 04 or 05 with the best record in MLB. Why might that be?

Hometown, you are really tying yourself up with the small sample size rants as if they statistically mean anything, or have any predictive properties.

The Cardinals had a lot of poor luck this year that helped contribute to their record being worse than you'd expect given their true talent level. Some of that luck has normalized in the playoffs and the BABIP gods have smiled upon them...

Most of the time a ball falling in here or there rather than being caught is the difference between winning and losing in the playoffs.

Cards fans are the dumbest fans ever! I think that's how the BFIBB gimmick works they are too dumb to know anything other than Cards are king and no matter how obscure or rare the occurrence always pass it off as normal and no matter how much crazy stuff happens always pass it off an sample size no matter the number.

Well, if you can't refute the posts, just call them dumb.

When you make the playoffs in 9 of 13 seasons, lose twice with the best record in all of MLB and then win the WS with the fewest wins and as a wildcard, yeah, you learn that the playoffs are a crapshoot and goofy sample size stuff happens.

Dumb fans are the fans that continually cite statistics with no idea of how sample size and variation work. You know, stuff like "A .236 MiLB Cardinals hitter got a hit... UNPOSSIBLE!" Ignorant things like that.

LOL where is the poor luck? Every single thing that would be bad luck for the Cards works out better than you can ever hope, hence the luck. The only negative thing for the Cards was a rookie manager sucking it up in 1 run games in extra innings.

They played under .500 for over 115 games in a row and made the playoffs due to a 2nd WC. They are the only team to need to 2nd WC to make the playoffs since the AL Wild Card game would have been game 163 in every other season in the WC era.

Carpenter gets hurt, Lynn who had a 4.43 career ERA in Triple-A wins 18 games and makes the All-Star team. The Carpenter has season ending surgery that doesn't even end his season. Lance Berkman gets hurt opens up PT for Craig who hits .400 with RISP leading the majors, Rafael Furcal gets hurt a .236 minor league hitter comes up and posts .952 OPS and wins Game 5 of the DS after a guy who hit .221 goes off to tie it up.

Trade for the mediocre Edward Mujica who has sucked everywhere but PetCo park in his career, then posts a 1.03 ERA with the Cards. Garcia gets hurt opens door for Joe Kelly, Kyle McClellan gets hurt opens a door for several guys ending up with Trevor Rosenthal now Beltran gets hurt and Carpenter goes off.

So where is this bad luck again?

You're so bad at stats it hurts.

In one post, you cited a random 115 game stretch, ERA, BA w/ RISP, BA, OPS of fewer than 100 PA, a single base hit, then a relievers ERA.

Goalposts moving all over the place.

So now you're telling me Kozma's .236/.308/.344/.652 minor league line in 2752 sample size? Because if you're not then its clear he's been luck to do what he's don in the majors this year.

Also why didn't Craig play 1st tonight if he's such a good defender?

This post makes it clear just how stupid you Cards fans are, Cards are so great no stats are needed.

Kozma is not the long term solution in st. louis!!!!!!! he's hot right now so they are playing him. When furcal went down the organization saw they had two mediocre in house replacements for him. Jackson and Kozma. Jackson's offensive numbers in the minors aren't alot better than Kozma's but Kozma was the one who was hot. The cardinals are just riding this as long as they can. IS that lucky? yes. Its also lucky that Frazier put up Votto esque numbers right after JOey went down. Luck is everywhere!

Jesus. Hometown hero you seriously need to stop. What are you accomplishing by pulling up stats and seeing things thru red-tinted glasses. Yes sometimes in sports (possibly why people like it) things happen that are not statistically normal. Yes sometimes guys getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars will perform on a high level. I'm not sure if you understand because you spend your time hating life thru pulling up minor league stats of another team. But these young guys can hit, and thats why theyre in the major league for a successful franchise.

Its strange you don't bring up the statistical anomalys of all the Red players this year or the Giants, or the Nationals. Seriously you're a masochist, just stop watching baseball. You have to have something better to do with your time than look up minor league stats for the 10th man on the Cardinals.

What other player in the MLB in today's game hit .236 in the minors in two of the best hitters leagues over 2750 PA and went on to be a factor down the stretch and in playoffs? Hell even Wilson Valdez hit .284 in the minors and .299 in Triple-A this Kozma kid hit .223 in the Pacific Coast League over 243 games. People off this board should be able to hit .223 in the PCL playing in parks like those.
