There are rumblings in Dayton that the conspiracy theorists are saying the Reds are choosing to send bad baseball to Dayton knowing they are getting full houses.
I've always wondered why the Reds didn't re-organize their farm system to where Louisville was the Low-A team and Dayton was the AAA club. Better facilities, better fan base...I'd think you'd want to please the better fan base with better players closer to the majors. That should, in turn, make it an easier transition for the fans to root even harder for the parent club.

If it's not feasible, at least make Dayton/Louisville the AA club. The way it currently is...just strikes me as odd.

The Reds do not have control over what team is with what league. It's the minor league team itself who makes it High-A or Triple-A or whatever. They can't just, on a whim, change it. The Bulls used to be a A-ball team before they moved to the International league.

And those 'Bulls' of yesteryear are now the Lynchburg Hillcats.

Have you ever been to either place? Louisville has nice facilities and sell more tickets than Dayton does. Louisville was the 4th best team in the minor leagues this past season in average attendance. Dayton was 5th, which is flat out incredible for a Low A team, but going back to 2005, they have never out drawn Louisville.

As for actually moving the teams, well, others already addressed that.

Really? Didn't realize that. I thought they were in Durham as a A-Ball team and then eventually converted to Trips.

The Advanced A Durham Bulls of years back (an Atlanta affiliate) had to find a new home when Durham got a AAA team with the Tampa Rays. The Bulls moved to Myrtle Beach, remaining the Atlanta Advanced A club and being known as the MB Pelicans. Of course, everyone knows they just relocated to Lynchburg, still the Advanced A ball team of the Braves. Through this period of movement the Atlanta AAA team was in Richmond. The AA club was in Greenville, SC.

Got ya. I assume you know the Bulls are the reason the Mudcats are not in Raleigh.

I did indeed know that but I have a question for you. Did the Mudcats ever identify a location in Raleigh that they would have located the park had they been able to? That would be interesting, I don't know.

I'm not sure. I just know Raleigh. I'll find out though next season. Not I'm curious.
