At what point do you start rooting for the Pirates?

I realize you obviously want to win the division, but I was just thinking the other day, at what point do you hope start thinking a Pittsburgh win may not be a horrible thing if it gets them in the playoffs rather than St. Louis, or LA? I'm not rooting for Pittsburgh yet, i'm just saying, it may not be that bad of a thing if they win some games.

If ever... only after the Reds have clinched.

I do prefer the Pirates in the playoffs over the Cardinals or Dodgers or Giants as the wild card. I agree with Brisco in that it shouldnt be until the Reds clinch.

When they move from Pittsburgh, I will never root for a team from Pittsburgh.

Well obviously its to benefit us, not for their personal gain lol.

There are a lot of teams I don't like that I would root for if it helped my teams, even Michigan lol.

I'll root for them to lose..the bigger the lead, the better. IF they happen to win a game, that benefits the Reds...meh...good for them.......... Better for US.

    Agreed.

The Reds are good enough to beat any other team in the league in a five or seven game series. If the Reds are to accomplish what should be there ultimate goal at this point, then they'll need to beat the best teams anyway.
(Referring to Jack Hannahan signing with a Korean team)
Since there are no teams on the moon, I guess South Korea's far enough from Cincinnati to satisfy me.

Haha, I did root for Michigan when they played Florida (the year after they beat the Bucks). When it comes to Pittsburgh, it's hard to root for them anytime. Any city that embraces Big Ben is a town I just can't root for.

When I see this on the last day of the regular :

    NL East: Braves
    Nl Central: Reds
    NL West: Diamondbacks
    WC1: Nationals
    WC2: Pirates.

I will be one happy baseball fan not having to watch the Cardinals and Phillies in the postseason.

I want Pittsburgh in over the Cards or the West runner up, but I want the West runner up to get in before the Cards if it comes down to that.

    My days go like this.
-Follow the Reds game and pull for a win
-Follow the Cards game and pull for a loss
-Hope every other WC team wins

If the Pirates get it down to around 2 back I start hoping they lose.

That would be the best scenario for us for sure.

In the first week of August? No way.

Atlanta learned the hard way last year how much can happen in a short amount of time.
Rounding third and heading for home...

When buzzards feed upon the flesh of my dead liver.

    When rivers run dry.
