Bump on the bump for the Iron Pigs. That needed to be said.

    But maybe not twice.

You don't need to designate anyone. I was just saying that they would likely drop an infielder to add Cozart. I doubt they'd keep all three of Janish, Renteria, and Cozart at one time.

    Pigs up 6-3 after 4.

Only 2 of the 6 runs are earned.

Bats get the lead back quickly:

    # Chad Reineke singles on a ground ball to second baseman Josh Barfield.
    # Zack Cozart strikes out swinging.
    # Dave Sappelt homers (5) on a fly ball to right field. Chad Reineke scores.
    # Yonder Alonso singles on a fly ball to left fielder Brandon Moss.
    # Devin Mesoraco pops out to third baseman Jeff Larish in foul territory.
    # Jeremy Hermida homers (5) on a fly ball to right center field. Yonder Alonso scores

I would hope that, even though he missed a decent chunk of time, if he continues to hit the Reds will give him a callup this year.

And 5-0 is the final. Walczak pitched the seventh for the Dragons, giving up two hits and striking out the side.

Edit: Might I add that Josh Smith is a stud. At least for this league.

All this talk of Alonso, Cozart, and Sappelt when he's been healthy and Hermida has been the most consistent and might be the first call up the way Walt likes the vets. Didn't really get a fair shot his first time.

All he seems to do is hit and hit and hit.

Janish is cheaper and provides value off the bench as a defensive replacement. I'd trade Renteria for whatever I could get for him. Maybe Tampa Bay would be willing to give up something for him. I could even see Detroit trying to plug him in at 2B.

I agree that Renteria is likely the odd man out because of Janish's defense. I don't know if the Reds could get anything at all for Renteria. And if they just designated him for assignment and lost him for nothing, I'd be fine with it.

Yeah, I named pretty much the only two teams I could imagine even offering a ptbnl for him.
