    All Star Game Selection Thread

The All Stars will be announced tonight.

Will Votto make at at first? He should.

Will Phillips make at second? He might.

Will Choo, Bruce, Latos, or Chapman make it?

I think those are the six candidates on the Reds. Phillips' numbers have declined, Matt Carpenter could edge him out. Would expect Votto to be safe. Don't see Mike Leake making it, possible I guess.

    Should be of some interest.

Wasn't Thursday the last day of voting? Hopefully rainout doesn't hurt either of them making it.

Chapman is an interesting question. On merit, he probably shouldn't be there. But if you really need to win the game with WS home field at stake, a manager would be very tempted to select him. More or less negates any AL left-handed threat late in the game.
Rounding third and heading for home...

MLB could push Chapman, adds excitement, certainly would be a fair selection although strictly speaking doesn't deserve it.

I'm interested in the Phillips thing. He has the RBIs, the defense and the rep.

But Matt Carpenter is having a much better year with the bat and Brandon has cooled off considerably.

Wouldn't surprise me if Bailey makes it. The manager picks the pitchers, no? Homer has dominated the Giants recently, so Bochy could certainly lean on that when going with him.

Paper voting ended before this week, so the ppd shouldn't hurt.

I hope I'm wrong but I think it will only be BP and Joey.

edit: Bruce deserves it though, hope he makes it.

Brandon and Joey are starters. No word on reserves.

Fantastic. That's what I was hoping for. Let's hope we get a couple others as well.

No Bruce, Choo, Bailey, Leake or Latos. Nobody else had a reason to be considered.

I'll take it. I wanted four Reds to make it, but getting two starters for the first time since 1995 (Larkin, Gant) is pretty sweet.

Former Reds Edwin Encarnacion and Travis Wood were also named to the squad. First time for both.
