Phipps with two hits including a home run. Sixth straight multi-hit game for him.
Does anybody know when Phipps' hot streak started and what he was hitting at the time? Seems like he's now been hot for long enough that you could actually call it a turnaround. A dramatic one.
Edit:
The best I can do is:
For April-May, he hit .197.
For June-July, he is hitting .416.

Corcino's getting beat up a little bit again tonight.
Soto hit homer number 18, his second of the night.
For all of those that were saying no to adding Soto to the 40-man a month or so ago, he has hit 13 bombs in the second half, which began June 23. (25 games)
I think our crowning of him as a top 5 prospect in the system may have been a bit premature. He still has a long way to go before getting to Cueto's level.
Also, Soto's breakout seems to make Alonso seem a lot more expendable. I don't see any way he isn't traded this season.

Duran was replaced in left field. It could be because it's 13-5, but I kinda doubt it.
Yeah, there's no question Soto will be on the 40-man this offseason. Leads all Reds' minor league players in HRs with 18 and he missed several games with a hand injury. Impressive last month for him for sure.
Plus, the Reds invested a third-round pick on Soto (supplemental third round) and higher draft picks always get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to protecting/not protecting a player. With him it's a moot point though -- he's proven he's too good not to protect.
These threads are sure a lot more lively when the Reds play a day game. It's not quite so lonely tonight.
Soto vaulting up the prospect board!
Can anyone speak to his power potential? I never thought he was seen as a guy with this much power even though most thought he would never stick at SS

Braves are making noise in the late innings and now trail 9-6 in the 9th with 2 outs.
Daryl Thompson not looking very good at the moment.
