Other than Mesoraco, Carroll might be the most pleasantly surprising player in the system this year. In his seven starts, he's twice given up 0 earned runs, twice given up 1, once (tonight) 2, once 3 and once 4. His overall ERA is 2.22. The strikeouts are nothing to write home about, but you can't quibble with his results. (Of course, by virtue of the Carolina offense and bullpen, he's only managed one victory.)
SLEEPER ALERT: Does anyone know anything about the kid who started tonight for the AZL Reds, Jonathan Correa? In four innings, he's given up one unearned run, with six K's and no walks. He's 6-1, 168, and 19 years old. Last year in the DSL, he had an 0.68 ERA . . . but before you get too excited, he only pitched 13.1 innings. In his first year, 2008, also in the DSL, he had a 1.19 ERA. But alas, only 22.2 innings. Through the four innings tonight, his career ERA is now under 1.00.

Jonathan Correa's final line tonight:
8 IP, 6 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 10 K
Holy cow. We may have a sleeper on our hands.

Or how about North?
At any rate . . . dang! Chick, or North, went 8 innings: 6 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 10 K. He's now No. 1 on my prospect list . . . OK, top 40, anyway. Seriously, it's only 44 innings, admittedly, but over three seasons now, the dude has given up 4 earned runs. That's for his career.
Edit: Sorry, I see OBM beat me on the final line. So I'll add this. Career ERA: 0.82.

Correction on Correa... only went 5 innings. Box Score has been corrected.
5 innings with 6Ks still isnt half bad.
Anyone know what happened to Carter Morrison? I believe he was listed intially on the AZL Reds roster, now he's not on the AZ or Billings roster.
The Bats were 1 hit tonight? Pitiful...even if it was Porcello on the mound.
This was from an article back in August, 2008:
Read more: http://www.kffl.com/player/20556/MLB#ixzz0rqPDHnP9USATODAY.com reports Major League Baseball has suspended Cincinnati Reds P prospect Jonathan Correa for 50 games because he tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs.
Good find, td. Guess that accounts, in part, for his lack of innings. It does not account for his 168 pounds.
Interesting, though. The kid was only 17 at the time.
