    Red Sox Reporting on Youkilis

MLB Trade Rumors Reports; Intend to trade...

    http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/0...-youkilis.html

Do we like what we see out of Frazier or will there be an offer made?

If the price is right, the Reds should try to get Youk.

I'd send them one of our relievers and perhaps a half-decent pitching prospect. It's generally not worth it for half a season of a questionable 3B upgrade and an option that we can't afford.

Wouldn't hurt Walt to make a call or two. Is Youkilis just Scott Rolen part two? 102 games in 2010. 120 games last year. Missed three weeks already in 2012 with a bad back. This offense needs a boost though.

Once again this is going to be about eating a contract. If the Reds are interested but want the Bosox to take on the salary then it will take top prospects or young MLB talent. But if the Reds are willing to take on the contract then it will take lesser talent to get him. The question would be.....what does Boston need?

If he wasn't from Cincy would he even be considered? He was better at first base and his health is pretty much Rolen now. He could be a short term spark....not sure if he'll be any better than Frazier.

There is zero...no wait there is less then a zero chance Walt goes after Youk. You have frazier and still Rolen in the picture, this deal isn't going to happen.

I honestly hope we dont even blink at that, a few years ago maybe, but I would have no interest in another aging, bad back 3'rd baseman.

$12M this season. $12M next season, and club option of $13M for 2014.

Wondering how serious his multiple injuries really are.

Sox will likely be looking for affordable rotation upgrades and/or a SS prospect who'll be ready by next season. Plus some salary relief for this season.

I'm not sure I'd be willing to deal Bailey/Leake for Youk, maybe a reliever and Gregorious. Phillies/Dodgers, Indians/White Sox are all hurting more in the corner IF department, so let them outbid for the guy.

Walt knows this teams needs lefties who can get on base. A power bat to plug between Votto/Bruce would be nice, but I don't think Youk is our guy.

As much as I'd like to see Youk come home, I don't think it makes sense. Depends on what we'd have to give up, plus I'd have Youk on the bench most of the time with Fraiser the everyday.

I would send them Massett and Janish if they pick up a sizable portion of his contract.
