When the REDS struggle at the plate and we posters complain, someone will always tell us that so and so (the opponent) is a great pitcher.

Usually it's not really true (Kip Wells...for example, IIRC)..

Today it is. Oswalt is a great pitcher.

Count me delighted that it's the Brewers, and not the Cardinals, who are heading the pack right now.

The Reds 3 game outburst is now bracketed by two games where only a Dunn HR kept them from being shutout.

It is amazing to me how this guy absolutely owns the Reds. No matter the players.Whether it be Boone, Walker, Kearns, or the present guys, they simply are not going to beat him unless you have a 2-1 or 1-0 game.
It would have been nice to have Milty go in this one and not waste Loshe's game against Oswalt.

Astros were smarter and sent Albers as the sacrificial lamb against Arroyo.

Exactly...the brewers are up and comers but they are not yet a team to fear running away with it.

1 run against Oswalt is like 6 against someone else. Sometimes you just have to tip your cap to the other guy cause he was better than you were. Yeah, it sucks that you lost but that game's over with and there's another one tomorrow. Win tomorrow and you come off the road trip winning more than you lost and that's always good.

There's nothing to really be upset about today. Oswalt is great, and knows how to beat the Reds.

Lohse had nothing but battled his you know what off to keep the team in the game. Same with Santos. Nothing to complain about on that front.

Just come out and get some runs tomorrow for Milty.

Like I said, there's bad hit/good gloves shortstops in AAA and on people's benches. You could get one cheap if you had to. You can find a .680-.700 OPS without too much trouble. Now, Phillips may not deliver the .780+ OPS the Reds need from him, but you're not getting it combined with his type of glove (and wheels, don't forget the speed) without taking a big chunk out of your team.

Without a good Brandon Phillips you can shuffle things around all you want and it'll add up to a losing season.

I agree. Oswalt's a great pitcher, I hate to lose any games but Oswalt owns a lot of teams.

We had some hard hit balls tonight that just didn't fall in, somewhat unlucky. One or two of those fall in and we're probably looking a different game.

Lohse finished up much better than I expected or than he should have really. He had some walks to poor hitters in even poorer situations.
