AHHHH, I know this is The Sun Deck and here at The Sun Deck the sky is always falling
Simple the problem is in his shoulder, a problem he had in ST and according to almost every medical web site, the type of injury he had in ST almost always results in major surgery. that is the problem...

Any issue with a pitcher the type that Homer is who has a history of arm issues and then this spring had more issues only to see "spasms' occur after only 4 starts has to be of concern.

It is something to be concerned about, but I would be more concerned if he injured his shoulder while he was on the mound. He stated that he felt the discomfort swinging the bat.

Maybe he goes on the DL, maybe he is done for the year, but there is no way his career is over.

If something as basic as 'swinging a bat' is going to cause issues, then that to me is HUGE. If his body can't handle that motion then how can it handle the unnatural aspect pitching puts on a shoulder/arm area.
