Well, there is one more possible question that relates to all this.

Someone posted above that it's wishful thinking that a healthy Ludwick comes back this year.

Reds need to watch Ludwick's progress. At some point, if they feel he won't be truly healthy this season, they pull the switch. Heisey (maybe even Hamilton) in CF. Choo to left. Ludwick to help off the bench.

That raises questions for next year, but that's a problem for another day.

I think they will stick with the current alignment pending more info on Ludwick's situation.

I would prefer Heisey on the bench. But that is just me.

Keep Choo there. I want him somewhat comfortable there for the stretch run and playoffs.

Rosecrans tweeted that Heisey will begin his rehab assignment in Pensacola tomorrow.

Lutz is growing on me. Can we just leave Heisey there?

I'm just hoping that Heisey and Hanigan were not hitting (like, at all) because of their injuries and will get hot when they return.

I guess we'll start to know more about Ryan tonight.

Keep Choo in center. As many has said let him become very comfortable before October.

Choo will need the days off over the long haul and so will Bruce. Ludwick is most likely not coming back this season. Unless Hamilton starts hitting the ball we may have to look into a CF spot for next year.

Which brings up the HI-C, Lutz, Robinson, Paul debate. We may have trade bait brewing.

Gonna have to trade a Leake, Cingrani, Stephenson or Chapman, because no one wants those guys.

Not that no one wants them they just aren't valuable enough to be the principal in a meaningful deal. All of them are useful but except for Lutz possibly in the futur none are starters.

Well yeah, no one wants them, no upside, they've probably got better options already, or similar. The high level position player depth in this system is a bare cupboard, absolutely nothing.

We just disagree. Nothing wrong with that. Though I do agree there is little help at AAA that is ready. I do think perez would be a better in-house option than any of those guys...his age is excusable because he defected late. He isn't on thr 40 man though which might be solvable with Corky DFA'd.

Fay tweeted that Heisey is able to spring at full speed, and is "close" to a rehab assignment.

Now the question is, what do you think happen when he comes back? My guess would be that he, Paul, and Robinson split time in LF, and Lutz goes back to AA.

I hope this is what happens.

Re: Why not Heisey in center??

I have been one of Heisey's #1 fans on this board for a long time. I've always wanted him to get a sustained chance in the OF (meaning more than a three-week stretch of unquestioned AB's).

That said, his inability to stay on the field combined with his penchant for going into slumps at the wrong time has made my hopes for him unrealistic.

I think he's a good 4th OF, but that's all the team should count on moving forward.

    There. I said it.
