June 3rd Minor League Game Updates

Louisville is off. Everyone else is playing. Cochran on the mound for Carolina, Partch for Lynchburg and Ravin for Dayton.

This pitching lineup coupled with the Reds day off may make this the least interesting day of the season.

No score through three in Jacksonville. Cochran is overdue for a win.

Lynchburg is tied at 4 after 5. Miguel Rojas has a HR and Cody Puckett has a double (19) and HR (7).

Dayton is down 8-0 heading into the 5th.

    Carolina won 3-1

Sappelt 3 for 4 and now hitting .351 at Carolina

    Lynchburg lost 7-4

Donnie Joseph pitched an inning with a K and still has a 0.00 ERA in A+
    4.1 IP - 8 K - 1 BB - 0 H

    Dayton lost 9-3

Cameron Satterwhite went 3 for 3 and is quietly doing well. .317/.378/.463

If Donnie Joseph has a couple more dominant outings with Lynchburg then I wouldn't hesitate to promote him to Double-A Carolina. I think there's an outside chance we see him in Cincinnati late this season.

That would be a huge jump considering how long they had him stay in Dayton. .

I was thinking the same thing. I'm not generally the impatient type when it comes to promotions, but I think it would behoove them to get Joseph to Carolina as quickly as possible. If they have to, they can promote to Cincinnati from Carolina. I think if Herrera continues to struggle much longer against lefties--even if he doesn't--they may want to fetch a lefty out of the system, and the best bets seem to be Joseph or Krebs. Krebs has been on a roll for the past several weeks.

It would also be nice to get Mace Thurman back on the mound. Anybody know anything about his status? He hasn't pitched since April 19.

What's the scouting report on Joseph?

The Yankees had Edwar Ramirez, who put up amazing numbers in the minors because of a great changeup that fooled minor leaguers, but major league hitters had no problems figuring him out. Ramirez has since bounced to Texas and Oakland and doesn't look like anything but an average middle reliever at best. I think Todd Coffey was lights out in the minors as well, although he's had a decent run in Milwaukee after not doing so well in Cincinnati.

Low 90's fastball with good movement and a plus slider that's an absolute wipeout pitch.

I'll wait till Joseph is tested at higher levels before banging the "summon him to Cincy" drum.
