Klinker really ought to be in the Bats' rotation. He already earned the promotion last year and again is proving in 2010 that he belongs in AAA.
Obviously, he won't be displacing Wood, Maloney or Chapman for the Bats. But either Lecure or Lehr could be bumped into a long-relief/spot starter role or dealt to clear the decks for Klinker.
If it was my call, I'd work a deal involving Lehr, seeking talent for the Mudcats, Hillcats or one of our junior teams. We might have to give the taker some cash (as we offered Lehr a guaranteed contract this season). But that's OK if we get a decent prospect or two in return.
The way Maloney, Wood and Lecure are pitching, it's questionable whether we still need Lehr as injury insurance, even if we're planning to groom Chapman in the minors the rest of the year.
By the way, Klinker was pulled after 82 pitches.
Klinker (W, 2-3), had received only one run over his last four starts. This guy is solid.
