Interesting that Stubbs is a -0.1 fielder. Might be the most overrated defender I've ever seen.

Some days I get pissed about EE only because for years a lot of us on here touted him as having that .900 OPS potential in him but I still do the Rolen trade given the same circumstances any day of the week. Edwin has worn out his welcome and the defense at 3B was atrocious.

That said, we probably should have just moved him to 1B in 07 and been done with it.

60 points OBP difference right now. Cozart's could still go up, Didi's could still go down. I would rather have Didi than Cozart, but I just don't see it ultimately being a real issue. Reds can hope to find somebody better than both of them in the ensuing years.

This year, it's a no brainer that Choo was better for the Reds.
I guess it gets a little bit shaky next year. Depends on if the Reds can fill CF with someone competent or not.

EE was a below .800 OPS guy for the Reds. He didn't have the bat to be an everyday 1B in 2007.

EE had an .831 OPS as a 23 year old, a .794 as a 24 year old, and an .807 as a 25 year old.

He could always hit. I can't really complain about the Rolen trade either, but I would have liked to see the Reds stick him in LF other than the likes of Gomes, Nix, Heisey, and Fred Lewis.

I still think Narron screwed with him as a youngster and stunted his develop for awhile.

Edwin's 2007 season is interesting because on paper it was actually pretty good 289/.356/.438/.794, but I think we expected more coming off his first full year. Also Alex Gonzalez who we all just expected to play good D and hopefully pop maybe 15 home runs batted .272/.325/.468/.793 with the same number of HRs as Edwin (16) and two more doubles (27 to 25) than him, so I think that effected perceptions of EE as well.

My God I had no idea Seabass (oh yeah I get to bring that one back) had that good of a year. Imagine if the Reds were getting that production from SS this year.

I don't think EE's slow start in 2007 (.554 OPS in April) did him any favors. He hit .352 (.908 OPS) in August and .322 (.969 OPS) in September.

Dude could always hit. A little up and down, but like I said I still think part of that was Narron's fault.

You mean for all 43 games of his 639 game minor league career? Yeah, he was really entrenched as a LF. He was as much of a LF as he was a 3B. Or C for that matter.

You probably do need to research it then because it has been shown over and over again that guys tend to do just that.

I would also argue that guys who don't sniff full playing time until they are 25-26 aren't starting by the time they are 30. Clearly there are exceptions, but guys who aren't starting in the Majors by 23-24 usually don't start for very long.

It may not mean anything but an interesting fact is that in the last two seasons the number of players debuting under the age of 24 is only about 30% of tbe total debuts. I think players are debuting later these days.

I mean for 2007, the time period we were actually talking about, where he spent about 30% of his season playing left field. He was much more of a left fielder in 2007 than he was a third baseman or a catcher.
