Adding to the Jose Reyes trade idea...

What do you guys think of Jason Bay? Obviously this guy has talent. He is batting .233 right now in New York and we all know that a change of scenery can be for the better.

That being said, I'm not so sure I remember his defense. Is he reliable? Reliable enough to be our all-time starting LF'er?

A Reyes, Bay package could be nice...

WAY to much money involved for the Reds to even consider.

Bay makes $16M this year through 2013 with a $17M club option in 2014 with a $3M buyout in 2014.

No way that this would happen.

He costs too much for a .233 hitter

    11:$16M, 12:$16M, 13:$16M, 14:$17M club option ($3M buyout)
2014 option guaranteed with 600 PAs in 2013 or 500 PAs in both 2012, 2013
    full no-trade clause

Mets have plenty of money, maybe they could send some of that in the trade to help pay the contract. He is also Canadian and maybe that could keep Votto from getting homesick. Bay isn't having a great year this year, so that could make him cheaper in the sense of what we send in return.

If the Reds have all this money why did the owners just have to sell a minority interest for over 200 million just to cover the present bills they have? Their problem is money and why they need to rid talent. They won't be sending money and players. As for Bay his contract is just way out there and not within the Reds budget. Mets way over paid for this kid.

Didn't say the Reds had money. But the Mets might be willing to pay half his contract out to get some prospects and rebuild. Stranger things have happened. Although this probably won't.

Mets will contribute no money towards the dumping of any of the salaries. They may take a discount on the talent they receive, but they're not paying anything.
