Reds 8th: Geary in for Moehler.
    8. Bako walks.
    9. Cabrera dribbles one in front of plate, out at first, Bako to second.
    1. Keppinger hits a high fly out to right.
Tim Byrdak in for Geary to face the powerful Patterson. Dusty stands pat.
    2. The mighty Patterson Ks swinging on 4 pitches.

    After 8: Astros 3, Reds 1.

That isn't even funny... Leaving Patterson in to face the lefty is so blatant it's unreal... Is baker trying to get fired?

Dusty? Phillips for Patterson...Cabrera to RF, Phillips to 3B

    How hard is that?

I think Chris Welsh was disgusted as well.

Welsh is going to end up having a problem with Dusty, I'm afraid.

    Astros 9th:

    7. Bourn Ks swinging.
    8. Quintero singles up the middle.
    9. Newhan (for Byrdak) 4-6-3.

    Mid 8th: Astros 3, Reds 1.

Well boys, what's it going to be? A 3-1 loss, or a walk off win? Do ya care?

The club meets here every night the Reds play. Welcome, Chris!

He's getting tired of how the hitters are just going up hacking and how Baker let Patterson hit against Byrdak when he had 3 right handed bats on the bench.

He also said something about the Reds having Hairston on the roster when he's not healthy enough to play right now.

Good for Welsh. Welsh has cajones and speaks for us.

It's pretty bad when the TV commentator is smarter than the manager.

I've been trying to keep an open mind, but frankly, Dusty isn't a very savvy manager. He has so may tools at his disposal but refuses to use them. Whether is stubborness or ignorance, I don't know. If it's the latter, he needs to get with it.

It was also not so smart sending him up to PH vs. Milwaukee, when they could have DLed him retroactively to Aug 1st.

I agree. But in manager vs announcer fights, the announcer usually loses his job.

    Reds 9th:
    Valverde in for the save....
    3. Bruce flies out to right on the 1st pitch.
    4. Phillips flies to Bourn in right-center.
    5. Dunn Ks swinging in a 10 pitch AB.

Final score: Astros 3, Reds 1.

Astros pitchers threw a total of 110 pitches tonight through 9 innings. Reds only struck out 5 times, but could do nothing. One walk, five hits. Absolutely pitiful. Dunn saw 24 of those 110 pitches. Everyone else just hacked away.
