Trying to follow Mike Hampton's path to irrelevance.
I thought Colorado had solved their issues with hitting in that stadium. Is it really still a "death sentence"?

It seemed like it was getting better for a while, but maybe that was just because they had improved their pitching for a few years with a briefly dominant Ubaldo Jimenez and inning eaters like Jeff Francis, Aaron Cook, Jason Hammel, and Jason Marquis, who were just good enough to give up less runs than their potent offense scored. Since then though they've been rolling with a vast collection of youngsters (Juan Nicasio, Drew Pomeranz, Alex White, Tyler Chatwood, Christian Friedrich, Josh Outman, Esmil Rogers) mostly varying from passable to horrible, or ineffective retreads (Francis again, Jaime Moyer, Jonathan Sanchez, basically anybody with a pulse). And the most talented pitchers they do have, Jorge De La Rosa and Jhoulys Chacin, they've had problems keeping healthy.
Jeremy Guthrie and Jason Hammel have both gotten significantly better since leaving Colorado in favor of the AL. But neither of those guys are big strikeout guys, Guthrie in particular. So while the park matters, I would say the big issue is the Rockies going to the Minnesota Twins school of starting pitchers and not having enough starters who can avoid having their pitch connect with the bat.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”
Of course now I have that cheesy song going through my head. "I'm...too sexy with my tractor, too sexy with my dozer, too sexy with my blue, blue, blue jeans"
I guess that's better than yesterday when I couldn't get a freaking Taylor Swift song out of my head. *shudders*
