I really dig that new Mt. Eerie album. Julie Doiron's vocals, formerly of Eric's Trip, complements Phil's voice quite well.

I really like Maynard's older stuff. I found the crossover "rock" stuff in the 70's to be so...mutton-chopped.

    Man, that cat could play.

He did some recordings in recent years before he died that were kind of a throwback to the older stuff. Some of the 70s stuff wasn't bad, but the older ones were better. I just picked one up recently that was in done in '06, apparently completed just a few weeks before his death, and it's actually pretty good. It features more of the other musicians and not just him, but he could still play even at the end.

I just discovered these guys a few weeks when they were the iTunes download of the week -- "Fight Song" and "Golden Sand" have been in heavy rotation on my iPod since then.

Of course they're older stuff is better, but I enjoyed their later stuff, too . . .

ORH, I've been in a jazz mood lately too, but I've been spinning (can you say that about an IPod?) Chuck Mangione, Stanley Clarke, and Weather Report.

I've got this at home on cassettes, had it since I was a kid. I'm either going to convert the tapes to digital files or break down and buy the CDs. I haven't decided yet. It costs more to download it than it does to order the CDs from Borders.

During My college years I saw the group on their Hollywood Bowl tour, Had the T-Shirt for a while!

Converted it to MP3 from my LP's Still one of my favorites.
