You have my sympathies. My wife and I live alone with our cat and he is like another person to us; we will be devastated when he passes. I completely understand what you are going through and hope you will find a way to get through this and move on happily.

My wife and I don't have kids but we have two black cats, and we love those dopey furballs like crazy. The bond between a pet and his/her human is no joke.

I am so sorry for your loss. You have a special guardian angel now, and she'll be waiting for you someday at the Rainbow Bridge.

It is SO not "dumb" to get upset over the loss of a pet! They are so much more than a "pet". They become a true member of your family and a part of your heart.

You don't have to rush to get another pet, one day you'll see a little face and will just know. Phoebe will send you a new friend when she feels you're ready.

Not "dumb" at all . Keep your head up. I've had to put down a dog before. One of the hardest things ever. I grew up with him and it was even harder for my mom cause he was hers.

Now we have 4 dogs believe it or not. Can't imagine one of them going . Going to be rough.

    God bless.

I feel better today, I only broke down 3 times and cried. I know now what happened to her and know that she did not suffer. My wife and I have no children and Phoebe was like our child. I know that she would have wanted to go rather than lay and suffer. I am a much better person because of Phoebe and feel blessed to have had her in my life for 11+ years. Thanks to everyone for your kind words and condolences.

My sympathies. Our neighborhood lost a beloved black lab at the ripe old age of 15 just last week and it was a very sad day indeed. As a pet owner myself, i find your grief totally understandable.
School's out. What did you expect?

I had to bury a Golden Retriever in the middle of a thunderstorm once. First pet I ever had. September 20th, 2002. Easily one of the hardest days I've ever had, which I imagine I should be thankful for - in the grand scheme of things.

My condolences... not an easy thing to go through.

We are the same way. We couldn't have kids and adoption just never worked out financially. The cat I mentioned in my earlier post is black and he's like our child. He's been with us through everything we have gone through in our marriage. Good times and bad. It's going to be very difficult when he goes.

My sympathies on your pet. I truly understand. I still miss by dog from 13 years ago. But I really suport getting a new one. Having a new dog eases the pain.

    Re: Loss of a pet

You have my deepest sympathy. Lost one a few years ago that still stings.

I'm sure you made your pet's life here a wonderful one, and that's truly saying something, given the number of animals that don't get the love and attention they deserve.
