Yep, sounds pretty certain that it'll be Kozma as the starter and Cedeno as the backup.

I just heard an interview with John Mozeliak and he was pretty blunt in saying essentially Cedeno has looked awful. The Cards do not have to pay him if he doesn't break camp. I think it will be between Kozma and Descalso. The intriguing thing is that Matt Carpenter is getting some time at second base so I wouldn't be shocked if Descalso plays both SS and 2B in platoon situations this year. Once Kolten Wong comes up, which will be soon, Descalso might exclusively see SS and 3B opportunities.

Profar for Taveras is a more likely discussion. But I doubt Texas does that.

Now you're talking, lol. I think that's something where both teams would have a hard time doing. Taveras will probably have a more power bat with higher average/obp and Profar gives you everything. It would be a tough call.

I wish St. Louis would trade Taveras, you just know he's going to be another one of those Cardinals who comes from nowhere (not to suggest the Dominican Republic is nowhere, but you know what I mean) to put up ridiculous stats.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Coincidentally, Gil had Tommy John surgery, too.

What's even more odd is that Tommy John also had Tommy John surgery

But nobody ever compared his arm to Shawon Dunston or Furcal

Although that's true, Tommy John's son (RIP) was lauded for his range for his role in Les Misérables on Broadway.

You ever think what a coincidence it is that Lou Gehrig died of Lou Gehrig's disease?
