    No not at all, but if he's not allowed to slide you shouldn't be playing. It's unpreventable not to have to slide either playing first or running the bases. I think the greater likelihood is that someone will get hurt not sliding. Proper sliding does not cause knee injuries.

    There was no downside....the ball was high and would check up....but Heisey has shown that he'll dive, slide, crash into a wall, whatever over and over. Who knows more than him if he could catch it or not. He's earned the benefit of doubt if there is any. The problem was Simon showed him up a bit and made it look bad. I'll trust the proven outfielder who has made dozens of diving catches over the pitcher from 200 feet away.
