    Wavier Wire Moves Part 2

According to FOXSports.com, shortstop Alex Gonzalez has cleared waivers.

Gonzalez is now eligible to be traded to any team, and the Red Sox just so happen to be looking for a shortstop. The 32-year-old played for Boston in 2006, batting .255 with nine home runs and 50 RBI in 388 at-bats. He's hitting .210/.258/.296 this season with three dingers and 26 RBI through 243 at-bats.

    We should expect big things.

I think Gonzo has as much chance of being traded to the Sox as I do.
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.

Psst, Theo, come over here. Such a deal I have for you. You need a shortstop. I got a shortstop. Let's do business. His name is Alex Gonzalez, but you probably know him as Seabass. Go on kick the tires, but not too hard now. He's just 32 and everybody knows with all those supplements you have lying around that 32 will suddenly become 28. Think outside the box, Theo, that is prime time. His bat has been cold this year that's true, but that just means he is ready to regress to the mean. Ah, I see you like that kinda talk. Theo, in his last 40 PA Seabass is OPSing .839. That is wicked hot for a shortstop. And, trust me, the kid has plenty of hits left in that bat. The best part, Theo, is there won't be any adjustment period. He knows Boston. He knows Fenway. And, if you scrounge around out in storage you probably still have his uniform back there somewhere, just waiting for Seabass to swim home to. So, whadya say, Theo, we got us a deal or what? You get the shortstop you need to make another run at the Evil Empire, and we get that kid pitcher who threw that fluky no-hitter. Clay What's His Name. Put that Moneyball book down, we ain't got time for that. Time is money, Theo, you got to let me know now. I have a plane to catch to LaGuardia in about ten minutes.
