    Johnny Cueto does it again

Johnny Cueto goes 7 2/3 ip, 3 runs once again giving up only one through 7. He gave up two in the eighth but pitched like an ace once again.

    7 2/3*

But yes, Cueto has been Mr. Reliable this season. He's our ace for sure.

IMO the best rotation right now (not looking at future)
    1. Cueto
    2. Leake
    3. Homer (is he healthy?)
    4. Arroyo
    5. Sam

Volquez and Wood should spend significant time in Louisville, neither MLB quality

Dontrelle has been pitching pretty good, he may be able to pitch in the big leagues if he keeps it up, and others crumble.

    Reds need a lefty
If not Willis, then Welsh will be activated from the booth
That actually would be interesting if we are out of it in September

Really? Wood has how many quality starts this season? The rotation should be:

    Cueto
    Leake
    Arroyo
    Wood
    EV

You need to leave Sam in the bullpen where he is very successful. You need to dump Homer now because he is one pitch away from major arm reconstruction.

No chance I let Willis anywhere near a major league pitching mound for the Reds...

I'll take Homer until he throws that pitch then

Cueto is turning into not only the ace of this staff but a top of the line starter in all of MLB. I just don't understand why everyone is ready to give up on Edison. He barely had a spring training and is still young.

    Cueto
    Wood
    Arroyo
    Volquez
    Bailey
    Leake

That is 6 quality starters. Sam has found his niche in the pen and I think it should stay that way. How the Reds should balance those starters, I'm not sure. But, if Homer is healthy, then I think Wood is the odd man out. I don't think its deserved, but its hard to argue with keeping Leake in the rotation.

I'm not saying you're wrong or don't make any good points. But with Volquez, young is relative. I mean he's older than Cueto, he's older than Homer Bailey. Obviously you can't look at two or three guys and say they're all going to develop along the same career path. But you look at those two, Cueto and Bailey, and they had their bumps in the road and learned from them and became better pitchers. Volquez certainly has had more than a spring training's worth of innings now and seems to be going backward in his development. Now, the one thing Edison has had to deal with that the other two have not and hopefully never will have to deal with is recovering from Tommy John surgery.

But I've never been overly impressed with Edison's demeanor on the mound. I'm not saying he doesn't work at it, but Cueto always seemed to want it a bit more than Volquez did. That's coming from an outsider who obviously doesn't have any real idea. But that's always been my feeling.
