Tuesday in Pittsburgh, Thursday in St. Louis?

The way things stand going into the final game of the season, the winner of Tuesday's WC game will travel to St. Louis to begin the NLDS with the Cards. Honestly, a week ago, I did not see this coming.

St. Louis has done what they are supposed to do, and could very likely end the regular season on a 6-game winning streak and finish with the best record in the NL. Less than a week ago, the Reds were 2 games behind the Cards in the NL Central. Going into play today, the Reds are 6 back.

The exact opposite of what we hoped would happen actually happened. And now, the Reds face the task of winning a play-in game in Pittsburgh in front of a sellout crowd who hasn't hosted post-season baseball since Fred Flinstone sat down with Wilma in front of a rack of brontosaurus ribs. And if they escape the Steel City, they will likely earn the privilege of playing the next two at the home of their nemesis.

Naturally, the Reds will win Tuesday, take two in St. Louis, then complete the NLDS sweep in front of the home crowd. Right? Right? Right.

Our down the stretch choke du jour feels a lot like last year to me; with Tuesday serving as the Game Five of the NLDS.

Not worried. Everybody knows Dusty's teams own elimination games.

Would rather face STL in a best of 5 than LA.

At this point, the Reds can't get past the Brewers, Cubs, or Mets in a best of 3, so does it really matter? (This after taking 6 of 7 from the Cards and Dodgers.)

I honestly think it doesn't matter who the Reds play. All that matters is which Reds team shows up. They can beat anybody, and they can be beaten by anybody outside Planet Houston.

    This perfectly describes the Reds.

And every other team in the history of professional baseball.

Exactly. So it doesn't really matter who they play. It just matters when they play them.

I'd rather avoid having to face Kershaw until it's absolutely necessary. But that's just me.

Except for the Astros. Don't think they can beat anybody.

Dusty and Hurdle are the only two NL managers in playoffs that have managed a team to World Series
