    Southgate House Revival

I'm thinking about going to a concert there in the near future but would actually like to sit down during the concert. This concert is in the Sanctuary and I'm wondering what kind of seating they have there. What I've been able to glean off the internet is they have balcony seating but it's limited. I'm guessing there isn't any seating on the floor. If someone could help me out with this I would appreciate it.

There's no balcony in the Sanctuary; that was in the ballroom at the old SGH. They have tables and chairs for certain shows in that room, but it depends on the amount of pre-sale tickets and the type of music being played. I think if you call and ask the bartender, they'll be able to tell you whether or not the show you're looking at will have sitting. There's plenty of seating in the Lounge, which is the free room, for before and after band's sets, too.

How is the Southgate House Revival different than the old Southgate House?

I've made a 3 hour drive for the sole purpose of going to Southgate House 3 times, and each time i sat at a table off to the side off the stage in the Ballroom. There were also rows of what i remember as being folding chairs in front of the stage. There was also a balcony but I didn't go up there. There were also alot of people standing around the table ares and the bar area. Never made it to any other room there. I hope they haven't changed the place too much. I really liked it.
I've been to dinner at Jimmy Buffet's house, and I've eaten it at a homeless shelter. And there's great joy and harrowing terror to be found in both places.

The Southgate House Revival is in a completely different building, the old Methodist Church on 6th St. in Newport. It's owned and staffed by the same folks as the old place and the Sanctuary is one of the most beautiful rooms you'll ever watch live music in. The building that was the old Southgate House, down by the Levee, is now called the Thompson House and isn't anything like the old place.

It's a matter of personal preference. The Revival is more modern, but the old Southgate House was more intimate. The staff is pretty much the same. The sound is better at the Revival. I'm playing at the Revival tomorrow (Monday) about 11:30, so you should come check it out.

I'll have to do that on my next trip to Cincy. I was just in town for the weekend when I ran into you...
