They're showing a lot of faith in Phipps. He hasn't hit a lick this year, but they're sticking with him in the 3-hole. On the big club, that could be frustrating. In AAA, it's kind of encouraging. I guess.

Dayton gets each of their first two runners on. Jefry Sierra gets caught on a delayed steal. Brandon Dailey gets picked off by the pitcher. Dayton down 1-0 after 1.

Sounds like maybe they're directing him to work the count, see a lot of pitches.

Perhaps. The strikeout rate is in line with his career though (it is slightly higher, but still, he has been a 22-23% guy in the past, sitting at 25% now).

Kyle Waldrop with a line drive sac fly to center gets Dayton on the board. They are down 2-1 and batting in the bottom of the 2nd.

Brandon Dailey just hit roughly a 400 foot 3-run home run to put Dayton up 4-2.

Nice. I wonder if he has his eye on something like this. He did a couple of Mudcat games on radio with Patrick Kinas when he was on the shelf the latter part of last year. Kinas, now the lead guy with the Durham Bulls, is very well respected in the business and will be in the majors one day on radio. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if he didn't hint to Klinker that this might be a good field for him to pursue. Klinker was good on the games he sat in on. Just wondering...
