Re: 8/19/12 - Reds vs. Cubs

That's my favorite thing about old time announcers like Vin Scully. Even after being a rabid baseball fan for over 40 years, every game Vin comes up with things I don't know about the game and/or the players in it. Now, THAT's a real commentator. The modern announcer seems to think we want to hear about the announcers lives and what they like and dislike about the world in general. Who cares! We're baseball fans. At least talk about the guys on the field and/or the game we're watching.

"This field, this game, is a part of our past. It reminds us of all that once was good, and what could be again." -- Terence Mann

Wow, Frazier swung through a hanger right down the middle. That thing should've been crushed.

    Brilliantly executed
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Soriano cuts the ball off to keep it out of the gap, but then lets Valdez get to 2nd anyway. Laughable Cubs defense.

Blow it open and let Latos save the pen.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

Yeah, talk about luck by Soriano to grab that one considering how often he botches simple plays.

Need Cozart or Stubbs to come through here for that 4th run.

I agree. Although Vin goes a little overboard with what college a player went to, which is relatively unimportant in baseball. He's the model that more announcers should aspire to. We won't have him forever.
