    Bullpen

Perhaps it's my old age failing me...but tonight's game seems like the first time this year we get to see the bullpen get a big chance to show their worth....ala the nasty boy years?

You are not old, VR, you are right. Only 3 saves and no blown saves. Only one of those saves seemed "legit"...

    (1) Game 3 vs. ARZ: 3-2 win. Legit.
    (2) Game 10 @ MIL: 4-1 win. 3 run lead.
    (3) Game 25 @ SF: 10-9 win. Coffey gives up 4 runs in the 9th.

The bullpen has 4 losses. They all happened when they took over in a tied game.

    (1) Game 8 @ MIL: Lose 3-2 in 10 innings. Weathers.
    (2) Game 11 @ PIT: Lose 1-0. Burton.
    (3) Game 12 @ PIT: Lose 4-3. Lincoln.
    (4) Game 18 vs. MIL: Lose 5-3 in 10 innings. Weathers.

God bless EE's defense right there.

    Saved the game, for now.

Affeldt seems to be a very nice addition. When all is said and done, he may be viewed as one of Krivsky's key additions.

FC about to earn his worth right thru the meat of their order.

Something just tells me that the BP baserunning error is going to come back to haunt us. If it can happen against anyone, it's the Cardinals.

Don't forget that every hold a bullpen guy gets is also a potential blown save.

So, way more chances for blown saves than just 3.

Reds bully held a 1 run lead over 3 innings. Feels like 1990 again

True. But a lot of the REDS wins (and holds) have come with a decent lead. One came in extras and two were 9th inning walkoffs. Very few games have seen a slim REDS lead when the bullpen took over on the mound.

Affeldt was dominant tonight. What a great 8th inning that was.

Affeldt is a good pickup as a reliever. A big lefty who can throw in the middle 90's has a spot in my bullpen, IMO.
