    Of Catchers ERA

    Hanigan 3.77
    Hernandez 5.28

This stat is nowhere near 100% representative of one's skills....but isn't just a throwaway either.

Is Hanigan's absence playing into the recent malaise?

I don't think its all Hanigan being out, but I don't think Hernandez is a very good receiver/game caller.

He's better than that horrid group from 2008, but he's not really very good IMO. He's Javy with a better arm IMO.

Absolutely, but it probably has more to do with losing Hanigan's bat and playing Hernandez more often, which seems to have had an effect on his bat. .508 OPS since Hanigan went on the DL.

I do believe that some pitchers can pitch better to certain catchers than to others, but I don't think that's the case here. But the only way to really know is to ask the pitchers, and I doubt they'll admit it, even if it was true.

I'm sure the warmer weather has a lot to do with the increase in runs allowed. That having the same timing as Hanigan being out surely contributes to the split.

Absolutely! But both offensively and defensively though this month was gonna be tougher regardless, tougher schedule.
